Changes for the 1968 model year were minor. The pony emblem now floated in the grille, the horizontal and vertical bars had been removed. The side scoop had been cleaned up a bit, and the side nameplates featured a script lettering, rather than block letters.
The big changes came under the hood. V8 options included the small block 289 and 302 cid engines rated at 195 hp and 230 hp respectively. Then came the big blocks: a 280 hp rated 390, a 325 hp rated 390 and if that wasn't enough to get you to the grocery store, you could opt for the 390 hp 427 cid or the 335 hp 428 Cobra Jet V8. Since you had all that go power, Ford decided that you should have some whoa power to match: front wheel disc brakes were standard on the big block versions.
