Not wanting to "mess" with a good thing, overall design for the 1966 model year Mustang basically unchanged. To comply with federally mandated safety standards, Mustangs now included front and rear seat belts, padded dash, emergency flashers, electric wipers and windshield washers as standard equipment. The dash was redesigned so that it no longer resembled Falcon dashes. The horse emblem in the grille now "floated" with the horizontal and vertical support bars removed.
